Terms

View and manage terms that group classes by date range, open term details and assigned classes, and show archived terms when you need past records quickly

Overview

Terms help you organise classes into clear date ranges, such as “Autumn Term 2025”.

The Terms area is where you can:

  • View all current terms
  • Open a term to see its dates and assigned classes
  • Show or hide archived terms
  • Edit or archive an existing term

Opening the Terms page

From the main navigation, select Terms.

You will see a list of your terms, including:

  • Name
  • Start date
  • End date

Select a term name to open it.

Showing archived terms

By default, the list shows active terms.

To include archived terms in the list:

  • Select Show Archived

This is useful if you need to refer back to a previous term or check historical dates.

Sorting the list

Use the Filters menu to sort by:

  • Name
  • Start date
  • End date

Understanding the terms list

Each row in the list represents one term.

  • Name is the label you gave the term (for example, “Spring Term 2025”).
  • Start date and End date define the term’s date range.
  • The menu at the end of a row provides quick actions for that term (where available).

Viewing a term

When you open a term, you will see:

  • The start date and end date
  • A list of assigned classes

Assigned classes are the classes that run within that term.

Select a class name to open it.

Editing a term

From the term page, select Edit Term.

This lets you update the term’s details, such as its name or dates.

Archiving a term

Archiving is used to hide a term you no longer need day to day, without deleting it.

From the term page, select Archive Term.

Once archived:

  • The term will no longer appear in the list unless Show Archived is enabled
  • The term remains available for reference

Notes and common issues

I can’t see a term I created before
It may be archived. Select Show Archived on the terms list.

Why are there no classes under “Assigned Classes”?
A term can exist without any classes assigned to it yet. Once classes are assigned, they will appear in the list.

Should I archive old terms?
Archiving helps keep the terms list tidy while still keeping past terms available if you need to check dates or class history.
