First-time setup checklist

Follow a step-by-step checklist for first-time setup, from checking organisation details to creating teachers, studios, terms and your first class in order

Overview

This checklist shows the required steps to set up Classia for the first time.

Some steps are mandatory because other parts of the system depend on them. Others are optional and can be completed later. The steps are shown in the order most people will follow.

Check your organisation details

Review your organisation information to make sure it is accurate.

This includes your organisation name and contact details, which are used across emails, invoices, and public pages.

Create a teacher

Add at least one teacher to your organisation.

Teachers are required before you can create classes, as each class must be associated with a teacher.

If you are the only person teaching, you should still create a teacher record for yourself.

Create a studio

Add a studio to represent where classes take place.

A studio is required before creating classes and is typically used to define a physical location or venue.

You can add more studios later if you teach in multiple locations.

Create a term

Create a term to define the date range your classes will run within.

Terms are required before classes can be created and help group schedules, enrolments, and payments.

Choose a clear name and set the start and end dates.

Create your classes

Once a teacher, studio, and term exist, you can create your classes.

For each class, you will usually define:

  • The class name
  • Schedule (day and time)
  • Capacity
  • Age range or level

These details can be adjusted later if needed.

Optionally add dancers and enrol them

If you already know who will be attending, you can add dancers and enrol them directly from the class screen.

This step is optional and can also be done later, including through public enrolment.

What’s next

Once your first class exists, you can:

  • Add more classes or studios
  • Set up pricing and payments when ready
  • Manage enrolments and attendance

You can return to this checklist at any time if you need to fill in gaps or expand your setup.
