Create a term
Create a term by naming it and setting start and end dates, with guidance on seasonal blocks, date choices and how classes fit the range before scheduling
Overview
A term is a named date range that helps you organise classes, enrolments, and schedules.
You will usually create terms for seasonal blocks, such as “Autumn Term 2025” or “Spring Term 2026”. A term can be created before any classes are assigned to it.
Before you start
You should create a term before creating classes, as classes are created within a term.
Have the following ready:
- A clear term name
- The start and end dates for the term
Creating a new term
To create a term:
- From the main navigation, select Terms.
- Select New Term.
- In Name, enter the term name (for example, “Autumn Term 2025”).
- Select a Start Date.
- Select an End Date.
- Select Save.
After submitting, the term will appear in your terms list.
Choosing dates
When setting dates, keep these points in mind:
- The start date should be the first day the term begins (even if not every class runs that day).
- The end date should be the last day the term ends.
- If your term includes breaks (for example half-term), you can still include them within the overall date range.
Naming terms
Use names that will be easy to understand later.
Common formats include:
- “Autumn Term 2025”
- “Spring Term 2026”
- “Summer Term 2026”
If you run multiple programmes, you can include a short identifier, such as:
- “Autumn Term 2025 (Adults)”
Cancelling
If you do not want to save your changes:
- Select Cancel
No term will be created.
